Just Dip Baby Dip

You know that Tootsie Roll song they always play at weddings, that says “just dip baby dip”?  I think it’s a good theme song for this post considering I had it in my head the minute I started dipping pretzels and Oreos into chocolate this morning.

Chances are if you have been to my house for a party or if I’ve come to yours, you have had my chocolate covered pretzels or Oreo lollipops.  These are so simple, yet so good.  And, they always GO!  I have made them for my daughter’s classroom, parties and have wrapped them up in pretty packaging and given them as gifts to teachers, mailmen, hairdressers and hostesses.  People always appreciate a homemade gift and these are simple and better made in bulk.  So, if you need a last minute gift and are having trouble with ideas… here you go!

Oreo lollipops can be a bit time consuming, even for a veteran like me who could make them in my sleep.  But, there is just something about food on a stick that makes them so irresistible.  Not to mention, who doesn’t like an Oreo covered in sweet goodness??

Here are a few different versions I have made for various occasions:

Chocolate covered pretzels on the other hand, can be banged out quicker than it takes a cake to bake.  I don’t know why these things are so underrated.  They should be at every gathering.  They are delish, inexpensive, and easy enough that my 4 year old knows how to do it.  You can use flavored candy melts (such as Wiltons) or white, milk, or dark chocolate.  Get creative with toppings!  I’ve used crushed candy canes, cereal, mini M&M’s, mini marshmallows, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, sprinkles and toffee pieces just to name a few!  Here are a few I made earlier today:

Happy dipping!
