Quick Tip Tuesday!

I love after Christmas sales.  My favorite sales after the holidays (and coincidentally deepest price cuts) are on Christmas decorations themselves.  When stores need to clear out their Christmas inventory so they can prepare to drape their shelves in spring décor, shoppers benefit.  There are so many amazing deals to be had!  I always stash a little after holiday cash for such sales, not only to stock up on ornaments for next year and beyond, but I always stumble on great treasures that can stay even after the Christmas tree comes down.

I found these at Pier 1 and I loved them… especially their price tag! I paid either $.49/ea or $.79/ea, I can’t remember which, but you get the point.  These apparently are strands that you hang as garland on your tree.  I don’t know about all that, but what I did know was that I wanted them and I knew exactly what I was going to use them for.  Curtain tiebacks!

I wish these photos did them justice.  They really do sparkle and even cast little light reflections on the wall.  My daughter loves them.

I just used gold or silver cup hooks for the strands to latch onto.  That’s it! Simple, cute, and somewhere around $4 – $8 for both rooms.

If you like this look but your favorite store’s seasonal shelves have been picked bare, look for inexpensive necklaces you love. Improvise!

  1. I must have missed this post! You know I love these tiebacks…I’m looking for some for the new curtains in my bathroom. I didn’t see anything yet in the holiday aisles, but never thought of using necklaces! What a great idea….if you buy them at say, Bed, Bath and Beyond, there’s nothing to choose from and much more expensive, and not nearly as pretty! This will be my next project – to find some beautiful tie backs. Thanks Bre!
